In an interview to Sawt Al Intishar, Mr Michel Rahme, Mayor of Ainata Al Arz municipality is emphasizing on the importance of the Diaspora’s role. In a country where every sector has collapsed, or is collapsing Mr. Rahme decided to take the reins. In those tough times, the responsibility is growing, and municipalities are now taking charge. Michel alongside his team did many projects in order to help their community. The Diaspora’s aids are the essence of many of these projects. They opened a first aid center in the village, funded by Lebanese abroad. The municipality is taking care of the infrastructures, and is implementing projects on renewable energy and is adopting solar system. They are illuminating the roads through solar panels that cost less and are more efficient, given the electricity problems that people are suffering from. Alongside other agricultural projects, the municipality is offering donations to the people in need and its work is completely transparent with every penny invested or spent. These steps help you gain the trust of your community. The Diaspora’s role is essential, especially in the Villages that need help for many reasons. The diaspora will always feel connected to its roots and homeland and is always stepping up, when the state is falling down.
